Thinking of using one strapped to the back of a flatscreen
as a frontend for a mythbuntu/tv type system

this would be silent and low power
hope i can make that work : )

Yes, I believe that I still have Thunar installed. But for most things I use PCmanFM which still works very well. I never uninstalled XFCE. Well actually I did, but that happened later when I installed compiz which totally borked my whole install. Since it's such a pain in the butt to recreate everything that #! did I just ended up using gnome, which works for me. Well at least until I get enough motivation to reinstall #!.

Correction, removing thunar only removes some other thunar components, but just seems to negate the xfce-keyboard-shortcuts.
Still, it's nice to think that xfce is not essential to #!.

Re. Keyboard shortcuts:
Removing Thunar also removes the xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml from /home/user/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml, as well as a load of other xfce stuff

Having changed from terminator to gnome-terminal, I found the same problem with editing the xfce shortcuts making no difference, until editing the openbox rc.xml script.

Am I correct in presuming that this means that I can get rid of thunar & xfce, & thereby have a better, faster openbox system where the shortcuts still work?
