How to Install CS4 Onto a Computer Without a DVD Drive

Now that CS5 is officially out, it is impossible to get a hold of the free trials of the Adobe CS4 software. You used to be able to just download the trial software and then input your serial number and you would be set. Making it a trvial task to get CS4 onto your netbook or other DVD drive-less computer. Now that this option is no more, there is a workaround that must be done to accomplish the same task. Because you have no DVD drive the next best option is your USB ports. For this software install to work you first need to find a 4gb or higher flash drive(you would probably be better off with an 8gb just so you have some extra space). Then the other most important thing you need is a computer *with* a DVD drive. The first step is to locate your first Adobe software install disk. Insert the disk into the DVD drive and navigate to its contents. Then select every file on the DVD and copy it onto the flash drive you want to use for the install. Then take a long coffee break because the act of copying the disk’s contents took around 45 minutes. Once it is done copying to the flash drive, pop your flash drive into your netbook and start the installer. It should work without any problems. Then if you have a second flash drive start copying the second install DVD’s contents to the second flash drive while the first flash drive is doing its business. The install part with the first flash drive takes awhile so just let it sit and do not mess with the computer while it is installing. Once the software installer says to insert the second disk into drive F;//(or wherever your flash drive is located), insert the second flash drive and press ok(if you only have one flash drive like I did; just erase all the contents of the first DVD off of the flash  drive and copy the second DVD’s  contents onto the flash drive).  Finally just let the installer do its work and you should have a working install of all of your CS4 software.
