I always like to try out the new thing that Youtube is testing in their labs. Recently Youtube has rolled out HTML 5 video to its test tube. Once I learned about it I decided instantly to try it out. I turned it on and I navigated to a video it was compatible with. The first couple of videos worked fine with the HTML 5 player, they loaded a tiny bit slower than their Flash counterpart, but not a big problem. Lately every video that i try to view with the HTML 5 player never loads. It just shows the HTML 5 logo and pretends to load. I don’t know if this is because I am watching an obscure video and it has to convert it to h.264 or something. But it just loads forever until i get fed up and X out the tab. I am running Windows Xp and Chrome so there should be no problem with my setup. For now I might have to deactivate the HTML player and go back to Adobe’s player. I guess only time will tell if HTML 5 will mature to a point where it is able to be used to a satisfactory video player. But at this point I am not impressed, with its current state being used by Youtube.
