This just happened repeatedly as I tried to download some of the new Humble Bundle 4 games on Steam. I can’t believe how quickly my steam library has grown after buying a couple of the Humble Bundles.

Another version of WordPress landed today. It adds many great features such as:
I would say those are great reasons to update to the latest and greatest. I have a feeling there are some bugs that still need to be worked out as whenever I try to hit backspace in distraction free mode it sends me back to the beginning of the line. But overall it is a great update.

I can’t believe it, Microsoft has released another app for Apple’s IOS platform. Does this signify their admittance that Apple has won the MP3 player war?

Unless you have been living under a technological rock you probably have heard of the newest, and cheapest computer: Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is a $25 computer coming out of Britain. It is being developed for a charitable cause as learning tool for kids to learn how to program on a very minimal and cheap computer. But there are many other possible use cases for Raspberry Pi.
I think the thing that the Raspberry Pi will succeed is as a small server. Think of all the possibilities. One could run an IRC server, HTTP server, and as a FTP server. None of these take much processing, but rather need an always on capability. I’m not exactly sure what programs are already compiled for ARM processors such as the one in Raspberry Pi, but I am sure they will become available very soon after the release.
When you have a portable computer that just needs a monitor and a keyboard/mouse, why bother with these new-fangled laptops. Just go down to your local library and plug their peripherals into your computer. There you go: laptop, without the top.
There you go. Raspberry Pi will most definitely live on as an amazing ultra-portable home/Starbucks coffee server. I wish they would start selling them though. I can’t wait any longer.

Every major technology blog is reporting on it. So why not bshootz.com? A new (and illegal port) landed on Cydia today that allows iPhone users to get Siri without having a 4S. Put your phone down though. The Siri app has not been thoroughly tested and many believe it could kill your phone. It might also record all of your data and use it for nefarious means. So I would install this app with a lot of hesitation. Personally, my iPhone is not jailbroken so I don’t ever plan on doing this. But different app for different saps…

I can’t beleive it! A new crunchbang release was just uploaded. The project hasn’t been update since February. And… Since my install is borked anyways there is no reason not to update! Head over to http://crunchbang.org to download the new release.

I recently made a pretty big mistake regarding my Crunchbang install. It all ended up fine but it temporarily left my computer messed up pretty badly. I was trying to install docky for use instead of tint. Docky requires a compositing window manager such as Compiz. I saw this and said: “Oh I should just sudo apt-get install compiz”. Wrong Do not install compiz. It messed up my whole install. I lost my default login screen and openbox window manager. I was booted back to the command line, and I had to startx which brought me back to a gnome install. I had to reinstall openbox, tint2, and SliM to enable my computer to become somewhat similiar to the previous install. However, it was not working well. I couldn’t get the wifi applet to work or some of the other special widgets. So I opted instead to switch to the gnome desktop environment.

SOPA (aka Stop Online Piracy Act) has been kicking up quite a storm online. It is another piracy bill being debated in the Senate and House of Representatives. It threatens to change the internet into something devoid of creativity. The SOPA act will make any site with any copyrighted material easier to take off line.
This could harm many websites such as: Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. A claim can even bring down a site if it seems to support piracy. Once the site has been taken down they only have five days to respond to the claims brought against them. This might not be a problem for large websites with legal teams. But for small websites this could be a death sentence. If SOPA is passed it will eliminate competition, hurt the consumer, and the innovators of the world.
Because of all these reasons. I as a website owner, do not support the passage of this bill. It, like many other bills before, has good intentions, but it is misguided and will end up hurting the people it is supposed to help. Increasingly, it seems as though Congress tries to disrupt the open and free nature of the internet.

I always seem to end up buying each new humble bundle. I love their quirky indie games. They usually run on my crappy computer, and I can pay as little as possible while doing so(but I wouldn’t do that because it’s for charity). I humbly, encourage everyone to check it out and donate some money to this great organization.
