This week the top scientists who proposed the idea of global warming based their ideas of off faked evidence. This came about from an illegal hacker who broke into an email server that held twenty years of email accordance between top global warming scientist advocates. In these emails there are apparently references to scientists modifying temperature sets. These temperature sets are a great portion of the evidence that global warming is based of off.
Obviously this is a problem for global warming advocates. Even if the emails are faked. Global warming’s credibility is once again being raised as an important question. This is a huge hit for the Democratic party which has based a lot of their political agenda on being green and preventing global warming. A perfect example of this is California undoubtedly the most liberal state in America.
California has some of the highest taxes because of their strict global warming and regulations. Could these taxes be all for naught? Many millions of dollars have been spent on what could be unnecessarily taxes. Also Cap & Trade was based on global warming and cutting down on carbon emissions. If passed Cap & Trade will put even more regulations on businesses, therefore hurting competition by making it harder to start a business.
Hurting businesses is the worst thing this country can do in this economy. We need to ease up at least temporarily on unnecessary regulations. We need to allow people to more easily start businesses which in turn will lower unemployment. We need to let people hold on to their money not take it away from them. Freedom for businesses and their owners would be a right step towards easing out of this recession.
The second major thing announced this week was that there will be thirty-thousand more troops sent to Afghanistan to combat the recent surge of Al-Qaeda militants and to train Afghanistan soldiers. It is estimated that these soldiers will increase the war debt an extra thirty billion dollars per year.
I think this could be a huge mistake for the Obama administration. The Obama administration ran on the “promise” that the our men would be back home within eighteen months. We already a year in to his presidency and now we are increasing the number of troops?
It has become obvious we as a nation are not willing to invest any more money, time, and lives into this war on terrorism. Perhaps it is time that this war is ended once and for all. It’s time for America and it’s politicians to realize that we cannot simply push democracy on foreign nations and expect them to prosper.
For a nation to become a prospering democracy it must have a will. A will to put things on the line, a will to risk lives for the betterment of their countrymen. And finally a will to speak up and to not be intimated by other countries or terrorists.
I am just being realistic here. Eliminating terrorism in the world is a honorable and worthy thing to fight for. But maybe it isn’t our place to fight it. We are not fighting enemies that can be stopped permanently. Terrorists will always exist as long as there are people with guns and extreme hatred. Our best offense is a good defense.
At this time my hopes of Afghanistan becoming a unrestricted democracy without the permanent aid of America are diminishing. It might be time to cut our losses, and add Afghanistan to our increasingly longer list of countries in which we have failed in instilling democracy in. As the saying goes “Changes start from within”. We can’t go on and force changes that are not ready to happen.
Should we stay in Afghanistan?

As many of you know two trials have been featured prominently in the news. The first trial going on is the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other terrorists behind 9/11. This trial was moved to be held in New York and is being treated as a normal trial instead of being tried as militants in a military court. The terrorists being so close to the target of their attack is asking for trouble. While these horrible people are being tried it will take a beefed up security force to prevent anything from happening. Many people cite Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s right to a fair trial as reason to try him in New York.
Quite frankly, first of all this guy is not even a citizen of the United States, and he is a terrorist. People who commit these horrible atrocities don’t even deserve to have their own bathroom or to even be considered human. What will happen if he is found not guilty? Will we release him into America or back to where he was captured? This is insane, this guy if anything deserves to be tried in a military court. Where will they put him if he is not given the death penalty, in a federal prison? I hope they have a solid case which I expect they do, but there are many possibilities that could happen no matter how good the case against him. If this guy is not given the death penalty the Obama administration will look very bad and as Ricky Ricardo would put it “Lucy, You Got a Lot of `Splainin’ to Do”.
The second trial going on is the trial of three Navy Seals who are accused of beating up Ahmed Hashim Abed (another terrorist). Ahmed Hashim Abed is a terrorist who is accused of killing and burning four Blackwater security guards under U.S. contracts. Ahmed Hashim Abed was one of the government’s highest priority targets to capture. The Navy Seals who were tasked with getting information and guarding Ahmed Hashim Abed(codenamed Objective Amber) have been accused of assault by their detainee. His evidence of being “assaulted” is a bloody lip. If you are going to fake being assaulted at least try to have convincing injuries. Come on now, even if he was “assaulted” he obviously wasn’t hurt too bad. Is a terrorist’s accusation even worth pondering for longer than a second.
It seems like he “might” have a reason to lie about being assaulted; maybe to get some sympathy from the jury when he’s being tried for murder!
This just shows that sometimes the court system has it’s priorities out of whack. The Navy Seals won’t even be able to call Ahmed to the stand during their trial because of the issues that would be presented when transporting him. So in essence the terrorists will get fairer trials than our own servicemen.
Should terrorists be tried in a our court system?
