The Power of Free: A Get Rich Scheme For Those That Don’t Particularly Want to Get Rich.

As you probably know if you have been o my website within the last two days I am giving a away 5 Google Wave invites for free. link As you can see on twitter many people want an invite and about two percent of those people actually have one. Which turns Google Wave invites into quite a commodity.  As shown in this actual image from my Google Analytics account. Just five invites boasted about on a twitter stream being followed by three-hundred some people caused my website to get about fifty times more hits.

I personally don’t run ads on my website but many bloggers do. More visitors inevitably will cause your ads to get clicked. Therefore, giving you more money to buy a large coke at McDonald’s instead of the small size drink your measly five cent a click ads usually pay for. This obviously give writers a “large” incentive to drive more traffic to their blog. As you probably have noticed one way has worked for many fledgling bloggers. F.R.E.E. A word that many people will tell you is  impossible to make money off of. But that is not true anymore, free does the absolute opposite. It brings in the big bucks (large coke’s).

I don’t care who you are the word “free” will draw you in. Whether it’s free Webkinz or free tickets to the next high school football game. Your ears immediately perk up as you hear the magic word. Then the question “What’s the catch?”. We have been taught that nothing is free in life. But that was before the internet, before bytes and HTML. Now free is feasible.

Since advertising has changed from billboards and newspaper spots to pay-per-click. Web traffic is what any person wants for their blog. Web traffic is hard to build without enticing someone to come to your website. But as I said before FREE turns heads and clicks. A successful mix of content and giveaways is the winning strategy to building a blog seen by people other than your grandmother(yes you actually have to produce content too).

DISC(LAIME)R: Obviously my blog has not made it big so you probably shouldn’t listen to me. In the future if this blog has gone big still don’t take my advice. And if you think giving away a code from under a lid from a cola bottle is going to attract visitors; don’t get your hopes up. This is in no way legal advice and if you take it as so you might go crazy. I am not liable for your actions resulting from reading this OPINION article including; dividing by zero, the number 42, inventing a clock that moves cyclonically, or causing earth to tilt off it’s access. That should cover all bas… DIVIDE BY ZERO ERROR.

Thank You, And Have A Nice Day.
